United Low Fare Guarantee
I was wondering if anyone actually used this before and if they had success?
I booked a fare to the Caribbean for the first week in march. It went down 30 dollars since I booked it on Sunday. United's gurantee states it it goes down more than 10 I can call and they will give me a credit twoards future travel.
Anyone have an success with this?

That's not what the low fare guarantee says.
http://www.united.com/CMS/en-US/prod...guarantee.aspx
If you find a published retail price online, for the same United flight, itinerary and cabin, that is lower than the fare purchased
on the same day of your original United purchaseby $10 or more, contact your local United reservations office and a representative will connect you with one of our specialists to file your claim.

I believe you have to find the fare difference on another site... AND it has to be within 24 hours of purchase. And even then.... be prepared to be given the runaround many times before you actually get someone to process it. "Orbitz doesn't count because they don't sell standard fare classes," etc.... That's the one I was told and had to fight.

$500 difference on UA.com vs... UA.com. Qualifies?
SFO-GVA and return BRU-SFO.
If I choose a BRU-IAD-SFO return option that I like, it books out at $1951. That seemed too high; there were other options through ORD for quite a bit less. Just for kicks, I used multi-city to look at all options through IAD. This is where it gets interesting.
The same flights, booked as a multi-city BRU-IAD-SFO, book at $1540.40.
Same planes, same cabins. The lower priced booking has the return as W/W (flights 951 & 340), while the higher priced is W/V.
If I had booked the $1951 option, on UA, would I have qualified for the refund and $100 e-cert?

If you get it I'd suggest buying some lotto tickets right away. It is clearly your lucky day.

UA's T&Cs are here. What would disqualify it? It talks about the same cabin, but I can't find anywhere that it says it needs to be the same fare bucket.
Does it lose out because neither fare chosen are the "lowest" available fares for the given date? That's my thinking. Unless you actually choose the lowest-priced itin offered, it doesn't qualify.

There would appear to be a strong presumption the alternative site is not united.com. The guarantee is united.com is the low price site, not the choice of search criteria on united.com. Find a non-united site with the lower price and you might have a chance.

Thought I'd share my experience with United's "Low Fare Guarantee" today:
We booked a flight last night around 11pm PST for SFO-IAD on United. The flight shows a ticketed date of the following day. This morning I woke up and saw that the fare had dropped $20 on united, kayak, orbitz, etc. Not a huge deal, but I did a quick search and found United's LFG stating that if I find a lower fare of more than $10 on the same day, I'll get the difference plus a $100 cert for future travel. Score! Getting the fare difference was a breeze on the phone, but the real headache was trying to get the voucher. The agent in India kept giving me the run around -- "the system won't allow me", "you don't meet the terms", "that's not what the offer says", "the united.com fare is the same as orbitz now", etc. I held my ground and knew I met all the terms of the guarantee. Her supervisor repeated the same lines. After a repetitive back and forth exchange, the supervisor transferred me to the united.com support desk. The agent was friendly but took a long time processing. So finally after 3 agents, a tweet to united, and an hour and 47 minutes on the phone, I got $200 in vouchers plus the $40 fare difference for two tickets. The refund went back on the credit card and the agent gave me the pin numbers for the two vouchers.

Does the Low Fare Guarantee apply here?
So, I bought 2 tickets for IAD-FRA-IST and ATH-MUC-IAD both W fare at $1163 each. I just checked the fares today for the same legs with the same fare class and the price is now $1120 each. Am I eligible for any refund at the low fare guarantee? Here are the T&C:
Purchase your ticket at united.com (with a qualifying billing address).
If you find a published retail price online, for the same United flight, itinerary and cabin, that is lower than the fare purchased on the same day of your original United purchase by $10 or more, call your local United Customer Contact Center office and a representative will connect you with one of our specialists to file your claim.
We'll refund the difference and give you a $100 USD Electronic Travel Certificate toward a future United flight if we can verify the lower online fare.
Please let me know.
Thanks!

If it drops ON THE SAME DAY THAT YOU BOUGHT IT ORIGINALLY!
NOT at a later date.

You've also got some LH flights in there. Are they codeshares? I'm not sure the guarantee applies if they are not all "United" flights.

I had purchased the tickets on Jan 4th. Now going by the T&C, i guess I would have to search for a lower price on the same date. The LH flights aren't codeshares unfortunately.
